Supplementation for Optimum Health

As old as civilization itself, man has known the benefits of food. We eat to nourish our body and sustain us through the tasks we need to accomplish every single day. The father of medicine himself, Hippocrates said, “Let food be your medicine.” Hence, eating is not just essential to address hunger and give us fuel; it is out source of healing.

The human body is designed to heal itself. We have a very unique and complex system that is working in proper order; food fuels it. When we take our body for granted and neglect its needs, the system starts to falter and problems occur one after the other. If we don’t eat the right amount of food and the right kind of food, nutrition is compromised.

Modern day living

If our ancestors lived to be several hundred years old it was because they were eating healthy, meaning fresh and nutritious food; and they lived a healthy lifestyle. Working from sun up to sun down, engaging in constant activity. Modern day living however has rendered us immobile. Everything we do is express even eating which leads to ingesting more junk than healthy food. If you need food to heal your body and we are not eating right, what do we do?

Supplementation

Modern living calls for supplementation. Science devised ways for us to bridge the gap of where we should be in nutrition and where we are at because of our lifestyle. Supplementation from the word itself is not a substitute; it is something that is made available to supplement what is lacking.

Eating is still essential to life, food still provide the vitamins, minerals and phytochemicals we need but perhaps not in the right amount that we require. This is why we need to take supplements. There are so many products in the market that provide essential nutrients and you can choose which ones are the best for your specific need. If you have some health concerns, be sure to ask your physician about what supplements to take in order to avoid complications.
